The San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons parade committee is proud to announce Dominick Spoto as this year’s Grand Marshall. Mr. Spoto is a distinguished member of the Hampton Bays Community who has had a residence here since 1977. 10 years ago Dom and his wife of 54 years, Rita, moved out to our hamlet permanently.
Dom and Rita have 5 children and 13 grandchildren. They chose Hampton Bays because of it’s proximity to water, “Hampton Bays is the only Hampton surrounded by water and I love that.” Their 5 children and 13 grandchildren are frequent visitors.
Mr. Spoto is an active member of the Southampton Town Kiwanis Club and is an invaluable member of the San Gennaro Feast of the Hampton’s Board of Directors. He brings his expertise in advertising and marketing to both organizations having worked in the field for many years.
His grandparents immigrated to the United State from Sicily and Calabria, Italy. He, himself, grew up in Astoria Queens where his family owned an Italian Bakery. Spoto’s Bakery sold wonderful Italian breads to both retail and wholesale customers. He remembers, fondly, his grandmothers mozzarella filled zeppoles.
The zeppoles at the San Gennaro Feast of the Hampton’s are not filled with the gooey cheese but are an favorite treat at the Feast. According to Mr. Spoto this type of an event, “Brings prestige to Hampton Bays. It gives the visitors from all over Long Island a new perspective on Hampton Bays.”
Mr. Spoto will lead the San Gennaro Feast of the Hampton’s Parade at
10.30 am on Saturday October 5, 2013.
